SIGNALS PARIVAAR - OUR OWN NET WORKING GROUP

We at Signals Parivaar Portal welcome all retired and serving signal officers and their family members to be part of our mailing list of over 2500 Signalers grouped under the single mail id <signalsfamily@googlegroups.com>. Any member can send any informative mail to the entire group subject to some T&C as explained in this post using the group ID. We also continue our endeavour to reach out to those veterans who have yet to have their mail ids listed with us.   RETIRED PHASE OF LIFE.   After serving the Armed Forces for decades every one has to embark upon the newer phase of his/her life called "Retirement". It could be harrowing time for some while the same it mat turn out into enjoyment with all the time to oneself do do whatever one likes. It is natural to feel bit lonely and cut-off after  retirement, as one is out of usual communications with old colleagues. In addition many issues which we never had to bother while in service crop up,  Pension Entitlements and its arrears,  Income Tax, Investments, ECHS, CSD etc etc issues begin to surface with surprise.

 
 SIGNALS-FAMILY MAILING GROUP (EARSTWHILE)   In the digital era these difficulties can be obviated to a certain extent by creating lasting bonds among the Veterans Fraternity. We therefore, initiated the creation of our own  "Signals Family Mailing Group" in 2007 primarily to e-unite our veteran course-mates and friends.  Our sphere expanded progressively beyond expectations and we extended the facility to all Signals Veterans who wished to be on the mailing list of the  SIGNALS-PARIVAAR YAHOO GROUP.  We are proud that almost all Lt Gens of our Corps are part of our mailing list , we thank them for their kind gesture and support by being with us.
      
        We are proud that the present Colonel Commandant in-charge ofsESM welfare of the Signals Veterans has very kindly accepted to be part of our Net-Work.  

          As of today we are  over 2500 registered Email IDs  in this purely "THE SIGNALS Own & Exclusive  NET-WORKING  GROUP" of officers incl retired women officers. Ours is the largest mailing group of any Regt or Corps of the Armed Forces on Record. The mails so posted by the members are fully e-vetted electronically as well as manually where needed as such "No FALTOO Mails" are allowed to pass on to the recipients. For the past over 16 years there have been no spam mails or intrusion into our group.

       OUR AIM .    The soul aim of the group is to interact among ourselves on issues which directly concern us in our day to day life. We provide updates as and when available on existing web posts and guidelines issued on our web site  http://signals-parivaar.blogspot.com  also includes exclusively Corps Domestic Matters Chapter. This aim is being achieved fully and the Team Signals-parivaar is a happier lot. The salient features of the Mailing Group are placed at the end of this post.

      WEB SITE THE SIGNALS-PARIVAAR     As the time passed we also created our own website which is now available on our latest URL    https://signalsfmly.blogspot.com  to store the information for posterity.  We noticed that our website soon became popular in a short span of time. It is in the public domain open to any one. It opens without any log ins or passwords.  We have over the period grown big and also welcomed any Armed Forces Veteran to our site and tend to post the facts and figures for their information as well after due verification.  As of date we have had nearly 29,00,000 hits from 90 countries world wide.  

    This is the only service related site which covers virtually all  aspects related to Veterans with NO Hidden Agenda that too totally MUFT (free) to any one. As of today it is the information Store House for the Armed Forces Personnel helping veterans and family pensioners in managing the related issues with guidelines placed on various posts in the web site. We have over 4000 pages worth of material to incl articles and pamphlets on 10 Gb of data on this portal.  If we call this as "Veterans  Exclusive Reference Site" we will not be Wrong.
      
   For the convenience of our visitors an Index is available with a click on all posts in the site which can be selected and opened from the Index.  We have also linked all other similar websites but donot compete with any one else.  

       We have gone a step further by including articles of assorted subjects some contributed by friends and some collected from other sources for leisure reading linked in this site. 

       LANGUAGE  - This site can be read in any Indian or foreign  language by your mouse click, do try this facility. Thanks to Google's Artificial Intelligence.

SALIENT FEATURES OF THE MAILING GROUP.

    MEMEBERSHIP  As of now the Signals-Family Group has over 2500 signalers whose mail IDs are grouped under the single Group Mail ID i.e signalsfamily@googlegroups.com . Any retired or serving Signals Officer can join the mailing list to receive general information and updates through regular E-mails. We have already opened the membership to our SINGLE LADIES ie Family Pensioners. It is easy to be part of the group. Please express your desire over an email addressed to mgr.grps@gmail.com  giving your  RANK & Full Name, E-Mail ID, Mob No, place of Residence & the last unit from where retired. 

    POSTING POLICY  Any registered member can post his mail to the Net Work using single mail ID - signalsfamily@googlemails.com which will be auto routed to all the 2210 signalers.  We permit only such posts which are useful for all and directly affecting the Veterans. We take due precautions NOT to permit Chain Mails, Forwards, Jokes, Second Hand and stale Mails which are not authored by the sender himself. We also do not entertain controversial topics and views on Religion, Governance and Politics etc. These are taboos for us.

    ONLY RELEVANT MAILS GET PERMITTED    Unwanted mails are annoying, imagine in case only 5% of the members post just one mail a day, you will have a flood of mails in your mail box. We have accordingly introduced Auto E-Filters in the portal which scan all mails Text  for certain key works and To, CC & BCC addresses. The mails so filtered out are automatically rejected with or without any intimation to the sender as explained below in this post. (NO FALTOO MAILS ON THE GROUP)

Sending anonymous mails posted not containing senders Rank and Name is a wasteful effort  by the senders.


    GOOGLED SEARCH ENGINE  -   OUR  WEB HOME PAGE of the blog site  is searchable in google and Yahoo searches. Do try to check for your self on your mobile phone.

     SPECIAL FEATURES   Some of its important features which are useful to know are listed as under:-

(a). Member’s mail IDs are grouped under signalsfamily@googlegroups.com , as such any mail sent by any of the registered mail ID addressed to this single group ID goes to every one in the group subject to its meeting the terms & conditions of the policy for posting of mails. (ONE to ALL - Net Work Mail Facility)

(b). All registered members can post messages to the group as such no outsider can ever post any messages or join the group without our approval. (NO INTRUDERS or SPAMS Detected Till Date).

(c) The mails once sent carry the sender’s mail IDs in the FROM field so displayed there in the mails received by the members. Once a member wishes to reply to the received mail he/she would click  the REPLY button, writes the reply and SENDs it goes only to the sender. Even if one addresses the mail to the Group in addition it will get trashed automatically (PRIVACY OF INTERACTION IS THUS ENSURED). Sending replies to the INITIAL GROUP MAIL SENT BY THE MANAGERS OR THE CONVENER are not confugured as such will straight head for TRASH BIN. This futile effort and avoided.
       Note - One can however send a specially written mail to the managers or the convener which will not be stopped, however it must not contain even a part of the old mail in its text

(d). It is purely upto the individual members to be a part of this group as long as they wish to, they can opt out and unsubscribe by sending a simple blank mail so illustrated at the bottom of all mails . (You are always in control)

(e). Members can have individual choice either to receive each mail from the group or to receive just one mail during the day giving a Digest of all mails where only text without any graphics is received.  (YOUR PERSONAL CHOICE IN RECIEVING CONTENTS in your Inbox which can be configured by you)

  (f)    The most attractive feature is that any member and not necessarily the manager or the coordinator, is able to post the messages of importance and share with all other signalers in the group. All this simply by sending one simple singularly addressed mail  to the entire group by inserting the gp mail ID in the "TO" field only, there should be no other addressee what so ever in the TO CC or BCC fields . Mails so exchanged on the group portal are  stored on the home page of the group site for reference if needed at a later stage by any of the registered members. You can also send attachments with your mails of various formats such as Govt letters etc. (ENSURING ADHERENCE TO THE POLICY AS ENUNCIATED ABOVE SO THAT YOUR MAIL IS NOT REJECTED)


 FINALLY WE URGE  MEMBERS NOT TO SEND MAILS WHICH ARE FORWARDS, CHAIN MAILS, JOKES, OFFENSIVE AND CONTROVERSIAL MAILS ETC TO THE GROUP MAIL ID, 

“PLEASE BE KIND NOT TO POST OFFENSIVE MAILS AND YOUR REPLIES MAILS TO THE GROUP ID” . You will agree that most of us also get chain mails etc from other sources as such do not wish to be flooded with  repeats. THE THUMB RULE IS THAT IN CASE YOU ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR OF THE CONTENTS OF THE MAIL, YOUR MAIL WILL HEAD STRAIGHT TO THE TRASH BIN.


AUTO REJECTION FEATURE OF UNWARRANTED GROUP MAILS POSTED BY MEMBERS (RECENT ADDITION)
       
When we initiated this mailing group and opened for the all the Signals Veterans we did not introduce and checks or moderation of the mails. It soon resulted into a deluge of mails being sent by members. Many left the group not being able to live with such quantum of useless mails out of which a large percentage were of no interest to them. In order to maintain the sanctity of the group we had to introduce technical solutions much against our liking to filter out the unwarranted mails. As of date as mentioned above in this post only relevant mails which adhere to the policy pass through the filters for further transmission to all the 2500 members.

It is once again brought to the notice of all members that they should not feel offended once they may receive notification from Google.com about the auto-rejection of their mails. The same only reminds the senders that their message originated by them did not conform to the policy. The filtered out messages do not come up for managerial review and get expired in 14 days time with or without intimation to the sender by the Google Portal. In most cases we have noticed that they were multi-addressed & forwards in addition to the Group.

We will surely appreciate once you share some information like Events, Sickness or Passing away of Member, seeking any help from the group members at an outstation or seeking some information of larger interest, you are most welcome to post the messages to the group from your registered mail ID.

However you must please ensure that your message is addressed ONLY to the Group mail ID in the TO field and none else in addition. There should be no addressee in the CC and BCC address fileds. It means that it should just be a single and pure message with copies to none.

One of the e-filters also looks for particular words in the text to auto-route the mail to trash. That is why we are not receiving any faltoo Mails in our in-boxes on the mentioned topics. 100s of mails thus get trashed every day to the dislike of senders who may receive an automated intimation after 14 days from Google Portals on trashing of their messages to remind them of the policy.

     EMERGENT SITUATIONS  - We also understand that there could be emergencies, as such have also made special exceptions for transmission of messages on priority. In case any member feels that his/her message must go immediately to the group and is considered important such as informing about the demise of a member or requirement of blood or Organ for another Veteran or the same is meant for every one’s EMERGENT information. In such a situation please compose your message as per norms mentioned above and send to the group ID without any CC or BCC with single address in TO field.

In addition to the above please FORWARD the SENT COPY of your message from your sent mails to mgr.grps@gmail.com  informing us to check on the message and have the same transmitted on priority. You may also Whatsapp by logging in https://wa.me/+919013443162


Please note that the Member Coord of the Group will not relay or re-post your messages to the Group even if requested by you under any circumstances. Please do not ask us to pass your mail to the group on your behalf. Its always better that any thing posted by you must go under your name and mail ID so that responses too come to you and not get lost or delayed


Replies sent to group mails will get trashed as such your replies will not reach the group unless a mail is specially made afresh and sent to the mail ID as explained earlier.   
  THEREFORE,  PLEASE AVOID SUCH REPLIES it’s a waste of effort.

Well that is the policy being followed which may not be to the liking of many  MEMBER'S  but that's what we have adopted with OK from Majority of the members. Its all in your own hands to have your message pass through the E-Filters.

We have thus been ensuring by strictly adhering to this policy that the mail boxes of our members which includes all our Senior Officers as well, are not cluttered by unwarranted and Faltoo mails for the last over 16 years.
